Amanda Jane Davison is a 22-year-old Inupiak artist from Elim, Alaska. She has followed the traditional subsistence way of life from a very young age and admires and is inspired by the beauty and scenery that surrounds her. “Every season I gather greens, berries, fish, bird eggs, and other foods for my family.”
Her paintings reflect the life around her. “There is beauty that a photograph cannot capture. By painting I am able to express the love and joy I feel from living in my village.”
