IAS Website and Membership
On behalf of the members of the Inuit Art Society I would like to welcome you to our website. We now have members in more than 17 states and four Canadian provinces, and we all share an interest in the arts, culture, and environment of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic. I hope that you will consider joining us.
A volunteer organization such as ours is only as strong as its members make it, and we each bring our own unique experiences and knowledge to the IAS. Our members share their experiences and knowledge with us, and we invite you to let us know your expectations for what the IAS should provide to you.
The IAS primarily serves its members through this newly developed and informative website and with annual meetings, usually held in the fall, where we invite Inuit artists, arctic travelers, and informed experts and collectors to share their experiences and expertise with us. I have found my interactions with fellow Inuit art collectors at these meetings to be as valuable and interesting as the formal programs, and I would encourage your attendance and participation when you join us.
This is a time of transition for the IAS, as we recently reorganized as a charitable 501(c)(3) corporation with the goals of providing both educational and informative activities for our members and, as we move forward, providing direct support for the native artists and their communities in the Arctic. We would welcome your suggestions and input as we pursue these goals.
Again, thank you for taking the time to browse our website; we hope it will entice you to join us in the Society.
