IAS board members to experience the Canadian Arctic and Inuit life first-hand

Ann ConwayReading about Inuit art is great, but actually experiencing their culture is something else. IAS board members Ann Conway and Janet Beylin are looking forward to a trip of a lifetime when they will visit Inuit villages in Greenland and Baffin Island. They will join up to 120 others on a small cruise ship for 10 days in mid-September as a part of a tour group put together by the Dennos Museum Center with Adventure Canada Tours.

Janet Beylin Ann ConwayTraveling with a top notch resource team (e.g., culturist, biologist, artist, geologist, etc.), they will see polar bears, walrus and seals in their natural setting and hike the beautiful land of the Arctic. And, hopefully, takes lots of pictures and keep a daily log of their journey to share with IAS members at the upcoming annual meeting in Traverse City, MI and, of course, on the IAS website.

If you are interested in joining Ann and Janet on their “Heart of the Arctic” tour (space is still available), we suggest you contact Terry Tarnow at the Dennos at (231) 995-1587 or ttarnow@nmc.edu.

“I have long been a traveler enjoying different cultures and ways of life. This trip will not only let me see first hand the Inuit culture of today but let me meet some of the artists whose works grace my home.”
