Keynote Speaker - Lorne Balshine
Lorne has been the President of the Arctic Art Museum Society, Vancouver, B.C. for the past 25 years. He is a world-class Canadian collector of Inuit art who will speak on two topics:

Private Reception - Eiteljorg Museum’s new exhibit:
“Our Land: Contemporary Art from the Arctic” and hear remarks by the curator.
This stunning group of works of the Nunavat Territorial collection of contemporary art from the Peabody Essex Museum, in collaboration with the Government of Canada and the Government of Nunavut, focuses on the growth of Inuit contemporary art over the past five decades.

Featured Speaker – John Huston
“100 Days in Baffin Island, My Experiences with Inuit Culture, Craft and Charisma”
In the winter and spring of 2007, John had the privilege of living for 100 days in several remote villages on Baffin Island. Working as the expedition manager for an American/Inuit dog sled expedition, John's responsibilities placed him in close contact with the social, economic, traditional, modern and personal lives of many Inuit people and families.
This hour long presentation will explore John's fascinating experiences with day-to-day life in remote villages such as Pangnirtung, Qikiqtarjuaq, Clyde River and Iglulik.

Inuit Artist – Peter Irniq
As a part of the opening weekend of the Eiteljorg’s Arctic exhibition, Inuit artist, Peter Irniq, will actually create an Inukshuk (a man-made stone landmark) on the museum’s grounds. He will also discuss his background, life, and art.

Throat-Singing by Inuit Artists Kendra Tagoona and Charlotte Qamaniq
In addition to their performance, they will share their training and life experiences.

Movie Screening - John Houston’s Award-Winning Movie: “Kiviuq – The Secret Bible of the Inuit”
When this 72 minute, English documentary debuted in 2007, it won the medal for “Best Documentary Film” at the Dreamspeakers 12th Annual International Aboriginal Film and Television Festival in Edmonton. Produced by filmmaker John Houston, it portrays the legendary Inuit shaman Kiviuq’s epic journey which has been handed down through generations as an ancient Inuit teaching story.

Hollyhock Hill Restaurant was just voted the #1 Family Restaurant in Indianapolis.
Food is served family style — all you can eat. The main course will be country fried chicken and tenderloin steak with full trimmings. Dessert is your choice of sundae, sherbet or peppermint ice cream.
The total cost/person is $28.00 which includes 27% tax and gratuity. If you plan to attend, the $28.00 cost will be included in your registration fee.
The restaurant is located at 8100 N College Avenue. There is ample parking. From the Radisson Hotel Indianapolis Carmel, it will take about 5 minutes to travel just under 2.25 miles.
